This class is for intermediate to proficient wheel students who want to learn techniques for making their work “not round” once they can consistently make round pots on the wheel. We will cover basic altering of rim, foot and lip on the wheel, as well as creating false bottoms to make ovalized or squared serving dishes, darting to constrict forms, and combining multiple thrown components into one piece.
Students will be asked to explore contemporary and historical makers for inspiration and influence throughout the class.
*All classes include 25 pounds of clay, and the glazing and firing of those 25#. Additional clay may be purchased if needed.
Classes also include ample access to the studio during posted open studio hours. Ceramics is an art form that benefits from practice and social time outside of class time.
Refunds will not be given within one week of the beginning of class. A $25 processing fee will be retained from any refund. If a class must be cancelled due to low enrollment, a full refund will be given.
